Useless in Eustis/Chain of Ponds (more pictures and video after written post, right click on pictures to enlarge) Well we left Route 1 Friday night and headed North. Drove well into the night and ended up sleeping in the van in Grafton Notch State Park. Awesome sleep...nice and cool. Mom and Dad cooked a great breakfast then we headed farther north, way farther! Through Rangley and Stratton to....you guessed it Eustis,Maine! Of course Mom had to buy me a "Useless in Eustis" tee-shirt. From there even farther north to the Chain of Ponds up by the Canadian border. We camped on Round pond, under the causeway bridge from Natanis Point. We set up camp then we canoed way up Natanis Pond. It was a real long pond , and just gourgous. And the weather...just PERFECT! We watched a half dozen loons, I just love their eerie "LOOOON LOOOON" call. Dad and I found a big ole bullfrog, I hopped with him down to the beach, I wanted to eat him but I think he peed in my mouth EEEEEEEEKKKKKKK! (see video) Back to our camp for an excellent steak dinner and a huge bon fire. I just Love sleeping in our tent! We woke to more loons after a star & moon lit night. Sunday morning we drove the few miles north to the Canadian border crossing in Coburn Gore, Dad even let me drive for a bit. We didn't cross the border, but it was the cloesest I've ever been to another country! Another AWESOME weekend in the life of Moxie, the "almost inernational" Adventure Dog! Wonalancet Range
Day hike, just me and my Mom..Dad had to work. We headed up to the White Mts. to visit my cousin Jack. He's my Mom's only grandson, as Lyndsey and Kyleigh are girls like me. A quick visit with Jack and my other brother (human) Jesse. Then off to Wonalancet to climb the Wonalancet Range trial up Mt. Wonalancet in NH. It was a nice climb up. Guide book says steep, shortest, most direct route up....guide book is right! VERY STEEP. But a quick hike compared to some we've done in the past. We ran into no other hikers...PERFECT! Been raining alot up in the Whites so the mushrooms were quite in abundance. We've been trying for a few years to learn about mushrooms. We have our favorite edibles, like oyster mushrooms...we picked a good feed of them part way up. Mom picked and photographed many others to record and identify. We climbed straight up rock ledges just short of the summit. We had snacks on the ledges and took pictures of the storm over Mt. Chocorua, we sort of laughed at the weather Gods of the Whites because we were going to climb Chocorua today but changed our minds at the last minute, phew! .....well here is my first advice...don't EVER laugh at the weather Gods of the Whites, it will come back to bite you in the butt!!!! You guessed it, the storm made it from Mt. Chocorua to us in minutes. We delt with the wind, and the rain, and the thunder and the lightning...but the hail, NOT SO GOOD> Mom picked me up and tucked me under her shirt and kept on a-hiking! TRU WOODSMAN...well, WOODS WOMAN! Hail let up, she let me down and we made a quick decent in the pouring rain, it was actually quite refreshing after the long hot trip up. It was an awesome "girls day out " hike with my Mom...and sooooooo good to be far enough away from route 1 to hear "QUIET" aaahhhh, the good life of Moxie, Adventure Dog.

Airbourne
AIRBORNE!!!! 300 mile road trip in the V-DUB to Rhode Island to LEAPFEST 2008. Me and my Mom drove down to watch my big brother (human) compete in an international skydiving competition. 44 teams of 4 from all over the world. My brother is a ranger with the 101st airborne and came up from Kentucky with 2 teams. He also brought his family, my SIL Michelle and 2 of my cousins Kyleigh (9months) and Lyndsey (12) also Jeremy's sisters and step Mom came from NY, My Grammie and Grampa Libby came down from NH too. We all had a great day, with surprisingly nice weather...been raining alot lately but not today! It turned out to be a successful weekend for everyone. I got to spend the night in a hotel (my first one, I even got to ride on the elevator...fun, but I'd still rather be in a tent!) with Lyndsey, Kyleigh and Mom. And LEAPFEST? well one team, from the 101st, took first place and Jeremy's team took 3rd place. Individual scores, Jeremy tied for first...in the world! I am SOOO PROUD of him!. It was such a fun time, I also met lots of new kids and and dog freinds and got my picture taken alot. Another day in the life of MOXIE, Adventure Dog.
