Lake Mooselookmeguntic & Bald Mt.

Our adventure started this weekend with a dinner of fresh dug clams that we brought from the coast and steamed pond side as the sky treated us to another gorgeous sunset.....yes this adventure dog loves clams!

Continuing our drive north after dinner, then we slept in the van and woke to a weekend full of beautiful flowers, scenery and wildlife. We watched a porcupine climb a tree, a mother partridge helping her babies across the road and a woodpecker "drill" into a tree for his dinner. We also saw a Canadian goose enjoying a swim. On Saturday morning we put the canoe into Lake Mooselookmeguntic and paddled completely around Toothaker Island. A couple of weeks ago we were at the Height of the land watching the sun set over this island. Mom got pictures back up to the very road we were on...pretty cool.

We followed some moose tracks on the beach. The tracks were big enough for this little dog to fall into!

We found a few plants and water bugs that we have not yet identified....any guesses anyone??

The day was not complete without a hike up a mountain. We chose Bald Mountain. A short hike up to a fire tower with stunning views back down on the lake we spent the day paddling.

Sunday brought a whole day of flowers and butterflies. The wild lupine are out this week and we were drunk with the smell and beauty, miles and miles of multicolored lupine..wicked cool!

Our weekend ended on another high note. We stopped at the Pontook Dam on the Androscoggin River to watch some fly fisherman. When along came a group of rafters, headed down to run the river. They all loved me....I put on my best "cute" face. They passed me around and I got to ride on the leaders shoulder. Turns out they own Muddy Paws Kennel and run rafting and year round sled dog rides. For all you fellow adventurers, check them out for what looks like an awesome adventure......www.dogslednh.com What a great group of people.

A long scenic drive home, another fulfilling Moxie adventure weekend.
