Rangely, Richardson & Ripley (pt.1)

Last weekend was packed full of adventure for "Team Moxie". It all started Friday night at the Height of the Land, outside Rangley Maine. We were treated to the most spectacular sunset. Dad cooked us an awesome dinner beside the van as we watched the sun go down.
Woke early Saturday morning, had breakfast then the folks slid the canoe into the mirror flat calm waters of Upper Richardson Lake.

And what an adventurous day on the lake we had. Morning brought lots of flowers and really cool rock formations all along the lake. History shows it's self in these parts too. Old iron rings, above and below the water where log booms attached back in the great logging days.
We paddled up to Upper Dam, home of Carrie Gertrude Stevens. She was the very first Maine Guide and inventor of the Grey Ghost Streamer, a very famous fishing fly. We walked out on the dam and low and behold....a flyfisherman...go figure.
We had lunch on a small sand beach and then paddled back across the lake with big rolling, following waves. It was like canoe surfing!
Sunday morning we woke up in the White mountains of NH and took an early morning stroll through the woods...well you know us... up,up,UP to the top of Ripley Falls...a stunning set of falls!!!! Huge! We did a 6 mile loop trail up and over some spectacular ledges and back to the van....all before we even had breakfast!!!! AWESOME Moxie weekend.

Play videos even if they appear black.
