Black Snout Mountain (pt.1)

Hey everyone I want you to meet my new friend, "Fitty Cent" (quarters for eyes) Our first snowman of the year. He now stands tall on Black Snout Mountain in the Winnipesaukee area of NH. We had an awesome...though steep hike to the summit. We headed up the Shaw trail, very easy going for awhile. We followed a brook for a long way with several crossings. I've gotten really good at brook crossings. Then WHAM...UP... straight up.... steep and slippery with a dusting of snow. The trail split on the top. We decided to save Mt. Shaw for another day and headed out to the top of Black Snout. There was more snow on top but the weather was great. The views, spectacular. We had a snack and made our snowman. The trip back down the mountain was very slippery. We hiked down with a nice truck driver we met. He had climbed the mountain, not realizing it was so steep to the top. Great guy and the folks really enjoyed chatting with him. We all made it back to our car/van just as the sun was setting. We stopped on the way home so Mom could get a picture of a lit up church with a full moon to boot...really pretty. Another awesome Moxie adventure.
