Harleys, Rocky Gorge & Mt. Sabattus

Looking for a run in, head out on the highway. Looking for ADVENTURE, in whatever comes my way.......Yes I was "Born to be Wild"!!!!!!!!!
In this case, we went to a memorial ride for one of my Mom's good friend. His sister puts on the annual ride and I got to sit on her Harley Davidson..."BIG DOG" (Boss Hog) for the day. The BBQ after was awesome. This dog went to bed with a full belly of BBQ chicken....yum. Thank you "auntie" Rita, for everything.
Sunday morning we woke up in Crawford Notch at the base of Franklin cliffs (we climbed them a few weeks ago on the Ripley Falls loop we did.) A morning drive took us past some cool vistas. We could see the observatory on Mt. Washington through the morning cloud bank.We continued on to Rocky Gorge, on the Swift river. We cooked breakfast early, then took a walk up the river. Very, very pretty. And not a soul around anywhere..

Afternoon found us "sprinting" up Mt. Sabattus in Lovell, Maine. I was on a chipmunk chasing mission....Mom and Dad were just trying to keep up! It was a beautiful afternoon for a hike. And we were rewarded on the top with stunning views and a really cool park bench to sit on. This is where we ate a late lunch. Awww a nice relaxing Sunday. Even adventure dogs like a break on a hot summers day.

We found a big, really big....HUGE chunk of quartz on the way down the mountain. Mom and I climbed up on it. It was kinda cold and slippery....really cool!!!! The loop trail took us quickly back down to the van. Of course we had taken the long, steep way up.
I have had a lot of new friends join me here on my blog. I hope you are all enjoying coming along as you follow me and my folks on our adventures....much more to come.
